This milkshake is pure childhood joy in a glass. Remember picking out all the red Smarties from the box because they tasted the best? Now imagine all those candy-coated chocolates blended into a thick, colorful milkshake that’s as fun to look at as it is to drink.
The Smarties melt slightly when blended with the ice cream, creating these beautiful swirls of color and little candy shell crunch throughout. I always keep extra Smarties on top so you get that satisfying snap of candy coating with every sip of cold, creamy milkshake. This is the one my kids request every single Friday night, and honestly, I’m always the first one to finish my glass.

Rainbow Smarties Candy Milkshake
This milkshake is pure childhood joy in a glass. Remember picking out all the red Smarties from the box because they tasted the best?
Ingredients
Method
- If decorating the rim, dip the rim of two glasses in a thin layer of honey or corn syrup, then press into rainbow sprinkles.
- Reserve about 1/4 cup of Smarties for topping.
- Add the remaining Smarties, vanilla ice cream, milk, and vanilla extract to a blender.
- Pulse 5-6 times on low, then blend for 10 seconds. You want the Smarties partially crushed — some chunks, some melted into the shake for color.
- Pour into the prepared glasses.
- Top with a generous swirl of whipped cream.
- Scatter the reserved Smarties over the whipped cream so they nestle into the top.
- Add a colorful straw and serve immediately.
Notes
Don't over-blend or the colors will muddy together into brown. Quick pulses keep the Smarties chunky and the colors vibrant. Use the brightest, most colorful Smarties you can find. For a birthday party version, add a scoop of birthday cake ice cream instead of vanilla. This milkshake photographs beautifully — get your camera ready before you blend!
