Easy Homemade Fudge (3 Ingredients)

This fudge is proof that the best things in life are simple. Three ingredients, five minutes on the stove, and a couple hours in the fridge — that’s all it takes to make the creamiest, most melt-in-your-mouth fudge you’ve ever tasted.

I discovered this recipe when I needed a last-minute holiday gift and had almost nothing in my pantry. Sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and a little butter. That’s it. The condensed milk does all the heavy lifting — it makes the fudge impossibly smooth and creamy without any candy thermometers or complicated techniques. Just melt, stir, pour, and chill. It’s almost embarrassingly easy for how fancy it looks.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)

Method

  1. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving overhang on the sides.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter over medium-low heat.
  3. Stir constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the top if desired.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm and set.
  8. Lift out using the parchment overhang and cut into 25 squares.

Notes

Stir constantly to prevent the chocolate from scorching on the bottom. For peanut butter swirl fudge, warm 1/4 cup peanut butter and drizzle it over the top before chilling, then swirl with a toothpick. This fudge makes incredible holiday gifts — cut into squares, place in a small box with parchment between layers. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
